1. Overview

Channelbox is a free-to-download, subscription-free, ad-backed streaming service provided by Synapse TV Ltd.  

The Channelbox app does not require registration, so we do not know your name, gender, address or any other personal details, but your device’s current IP address, allocated by your Internet Service Provider, will appear in our server logs.

In order to ensure the service is running correctly, we collect some anonymous data about stream and ad views.  We also share some aggregated statistics with content-owners and selected partners. For example, a content-owner may receive a periodic report of the aggregated viewing figures for their channels.

The following data is used:

Your IP address
Your IP address is used solely to determine the country from which the content request is being made.  This is so that we can meet the legal requirements for content-owners that have granted territory specific distribution rights for their content.  Your location is not stored or tracked and your IP address is not sent to any third-party organisation.   We do not track your IP address but it may appear in our server logs as you use the app.

 

App Installation ID
The Channelbox app is assigned a unique random installation ID on first use. This ID is used for session management and is required for the application to function. The installation ID is stored on your device only but may appear in our server logs as you use the app.

 

Device OS version and model information
We collect the OS version (e.g. "Android 10") and model information (e.g. "Samsung SMA41F") from your device when you access our services. This information is used to help track when particular devices or OS versions have any specific needs or problems. This information is therefore required to help us improve the performance of the app on all supported devices.

Application usage data
We collect data on stream and ad views. Aggregated statistics about channel views may be passed to our partners, for example, a content-owner may receive a periodic report of the aggregated viewing figures for their channels. Application usage data can also be used to detect errors that may occur in our infrastructure and is therefore required to ensure continued operation of the service.

Application crash logs and stack traces
In the unfortunate event that our app crashes on your device, we may receive a crash report, crash log, or stack trace which we can use to further develop the app and hopefully fix whatever issue it was that caused the crash. For Android devices, these reports are collected by Google Play, and you can opt out of sending them by turning off usage & diagnostics sending in your Google account settings. 2. Introduction

Synapse TV Ltd. (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates http://channelbox.tv, any other related Channelbox website, the Channelbox Connected TV applications and the Channelbox mobile applications (hereinafter referred to as “Service”).

Our Privacy Policy governs your visit to the Channelbox Connected TV applications and the  Channelbox mobile applications, and explains how we collect, safeguard and disclose information that results from your use of our Service.

We use your data to provide and improve Service. By using Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

3. Definitions

SERVICE means http://channelbox.tv, any other related Channelbox site, The Channelbox Connected TV application and the Channelbox mobile application operated by Synapse TV Ltd.

PERSONAL DATA means data about a living individual who can be identified from those data (or from those and other information either in our possession or likely to come into our possession).

USAGE DATA is data collected automatically either generated by the use of Service or from Service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).

COOKIES are small files stored on your device (computer or mobile device).

DATA CONTROLLER means a natural or legal person who (either alone or jointly or in common with other persons) determines the purposes for which and the manner in which any personal data are, or are to be, processed. For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, we are a Data Controller of your data.

DATA SUBJECT is any living individual who is the subject of Personal Data.

THE USER is the individual using our Service. The User corresponds to the Data Subject, who is the subject of Personal Data.

The Service does not require registration, so we do not know your name, gender, address or any other personal details, but your device’s current IP address, allocated by your Internet Service Provider, will appear in our server logs.

Usage Data

We may also collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Service or when you access Service by or through a mobile device (“Usage Data”).

When you access Service with a mobile device, this Usage Data may include information such as the type of mobile device you use, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, an anonymous unique identifiers and other diagnostic data.

6. Use of Data

Synapse TV Ld. uses the collected data for various purposes:

(a) to provide and maintain our Service;

(b) to allow you to participate in interactive features of our Service when you choose to do so;

(c) to gather analysis or valuable information so that we can improve our Service;

(d) to monitor the usage of our Service;

(e) to detect, prevent and address technical issues;

(f)  to provide aggregated service usage reports to content-owners and other selected partners;

(f)  to ensure content is distributed only in the territories for which it is licensed (geo-blocking);

7. Retention of Data

We will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations.

We will also retain Usage Data for internal analysis purposes and for the generation of usage reports.

8. Transfer of Data

Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to – and maintained on – computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.

If you are located outside Europe and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to servers hosted in Europe and process it there.

Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.

Synapse TV Ltd. will take all the steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of your Personal Data will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of your data and other personal information.

9. Disclosure of Data

We may disclose personal information that we collect, or you provide:

(a) Disclosure for Law Enforcement:
Under certain circumstances, we may be required to disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

(b) Business Transaction.
If we or our subsidiaries are involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, your Personal Data may be transferred.

(c) Other cases. We may disclose your information also:

(i) to our subsidiaries and affiliates;

(ii) to contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our business;

The security of your data is important to us but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

Our Services are not intended for use by children under the age of 18 (“Child” or “Children”).

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from Children under 18. If you become aware that a Child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from Children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
